"The Traffic Light Within"

A kind of fundamental survival principle and a natural human rhythm. In nature, everything moves rhythmically. All colors, in balance and rhythm, reflect movement.

Each of them is necessary in a particular moment:

RED – conserving energy, being able to say NO and STOP to what drains you and to what is harmful. Stopping when something doesn’t feel right. Being able to set boundaries and defend your interests. Time for yourself, to restore when you're tired.

YELLOW – preparing, ripening, setting intentions and goals, collecting knowledge and information. Sensing the direction you’re going next.

GREEN – having the energy to act.

You know your direction. You move, you give your energy to what you value. You move toward your goal, fulfill your intention or desire. You say YES to what feels inspiring, interesting, and valuable.

This rhythm might vary from person to person, but all phases are necessary. If you feel this rhythm repeating in your life, that’s great – you’re living in harmony. If a stage is missing, consider why. It can be a helpful way to self-diagnose.

Too much red, for too long: you avoid people, isolate yourself, reject anything new. Nothing resonates. You feel uninterested, maybe even hostile toward new things. The smallest things might set you off. Ask yourself: How can I begin to trust the world and myself again? What could give me that feeling? Which thoughts and emotions drain me? Which desires am I ignoring? Awareness is the first step. If you can't manage it alone, ask for help.

Too much yellow, for too long: you constantly seek validation and proof of your worth. You doubt your actions. Your life plays out mostly in your mind – lots of dreaming and planning, but no action. Uncertainty, fear, and hesitation dominate. Ask yourself: Which part of me fears new experiences? What past experience is holding me back? What stops me from feeling worthy now? Which thoughts are blocking that feeling? Again – if it’s too much, ask someone for support.

Too much green, for too long: your priority is to always be “good.” You feel tired, but can’t stop. You're stuck in a loop, can’t say no even if something doesn’t feel right, even if it’s not good for you. You give and give, but receive little – just enough to keep going. You take care of everyone else, but there’s no time left for yourself. Ask yourself: What important part of myself am I avoiding? What would happen if I stopped? What would happen if I said no? Whom am I really trying to please, and why?

This rhythm shows up both in short cycles and across life as a whole. Be aware of every phase and let the rhythm unfold. Feel yourself. Be important to yourself.
